Physical media in a world where everything is so increasingly digital; everyday there is some new advancement in digital technologies, inventions, findings. Have we thought about the drawbacks? Have we thought about advertising some of the challenges we face dealing with this tech that is marketed to: Oh so simply make our lives easier ? Regardless, I tow the line between digital and physical media. The physical is of utmost importance especially now.

I personally shoot a lot of film, something I picked up shortly after realizing photography was my medium, my way of expression. Physical photos, something to be held, texture, feeling. How do I explain the fulfilment of knowing that the roll of film in my camera I, alone, will be the one to develop it? I play a major hand in how it turns out, there is a level of care and importance I approach that with. I have so much control, yet it’s about the intention in my process. What camera? What lens? What film stock? Format? 

Despite my control in everything, the nature of film, chemistry, chance can lead to outcomes beyond my intentions. That’s beautiful. My visions of the present and centuries of science are combined to create such expressions in my photographs.

I’m somewhere between the current and a time where everything was more complex.
