A story about moving on.
Home? Where is that? What is that feeling when you walk into someone else's house but feel right at home? Hospitality to put it simply? For me it's giving my grandmother a hug-kiss and grandfather a handshake, immediately after coming through the door.
In 2024 I caught talk of my grandparents plans to sell their house and move down south, this was urgent. Like what? y'all have been here for decades and now it's time to move? It was somewhat personal to me. So personal I made a damn zine lol, but anyway. I immediately started to hangout with my grandparents more, I was over there every other day, just hanging out, helping pack things up and whatnot. I was mainly over there sitting with my grandma in the kitchen, we'd be eating, talking and watching Family Feud or her "Stories" like 'The Bold & Beautiful', getting my grandpa a cup of ice for his gin or walking around to the corner store to pick up juicy fruit, ginger ale or jolly ranchers. All things that would soon become only memories. No longer a reality.
While on the job, sitting at the front desk of a gym on a Navy base (yea, wtf was i thinking? paid alright though lol) I thought "Why don't I make a zine about my grandparents moving?". It was such a natural thought, I had dreamed of making my own zine for years but never got around to it, yet here I was bored out of my mind, having the time while sitting around, I decided to bring my laptop the next day and figure it out.
